Control After-Hours and Night-Shift Entry
VizPass runs the night gate on the same record as the day: host approval on WhatsApp if you require it, a pass that can carry an end time and is refused once it expires, blocked people refused at check-in, and a live list of who is inside for the night guard and the morning shift alike.
The night shift is when a gate is easiest to get past. The day's supervisors have gone home, the guard knows most faces, and a worker who says his supervisor called him in is hard to turn away at 2am. VizPass does not decide who may enter at which hour — it has no shift-based entry windows or time-of-day rules — but it runs the night gate on the same record as the day one, so the morning shift can see exactly what happened.
The Same Approval Rule, at Any Hour
Host approval is set once for the company: walk-ins and self-registrations are either let in automatically or wait until the host approves. When approval is required, it applies at 2am exactly as it does at noon.
- The host gets the request in the VizPass bell, by email, on WhatsApp when configured and as an app push, and answers from a no-login link or the app.
- The desk can approve a waiting visit itself when the host cannot be reached, and the activity log records it.
- VizPass tells the guard whether to admit and why; the guard opens the gate. It does not lock or unlock anything.
Passes That Stop Working When They Should
- A pass covers one visit: one entry and one exit, closed by the exit scan.
- A pass can carry an end time. Once it has passed, the pass is refused at entry, so a contractor booked until 10pm cannot use the same pass at 3am. It can still be used to leave.
- Someone blocked after an incident is refused at check-in, even on a visit already booked, until an admin unblocks them.
Who Is Inside, for the Night Guard and the Morning Shift
The On Site list is worked out from check-ins and check-outs, so the guard at 3am and the supervisor at 7am read the same list of who is inside right now, by site and gate. Anyone still inside after their pass end time stays flagged on the dashboard and the list, and the host and Company Admins are alerted once, in the bell and by email. A pass with no end time never raises that alert, which is the reason to set one for night work.
Visit reports for any date range export as CSV, and every check-in, check-out and change is written to the activity log, so "who let him in last night?" has an answer the next morning.
Staff Stepping Out During the Night
On the Gate Control plan, staff who leave mid-shift go out on an exit pass with a destination, a reason and an approval, and a planned return time if you set one. If they are not back by then, the employee, their manager and the Security Heads are reminded every two hours.
Where VizPass Stops
It does not hold shift rosters or limit a person to set hours, it does not drive barriers, turnstiles or door locks, and it has no HR or ERP integration. Employee shifts and attendance belong to the separate Attendance module on the HR plans. Give booked passes an end time, so a pass issued for the evening is refused at entry once it expires. VizPass tells the guard whether to admit; the guard still opens the gate, so the night guard's briefing matters as much as the setting.
Can I Set Different Entry Times for Night-Shift Versus Day-Shift Workers at the Same Factory?

What Happens If Someone Is Still on Site After Their Pass Has Ended—will I Know About It?
Yes, if the pass has an end time. Anyone still inside after it stays flagged on the dashboard and the On Site list, and the host and Company Admins are alerted once, in the VizPass bell and by email. The alert is not repeated and does not go by WhatsApp or SMS, so somebody has to look at the flag. A pass issued with no end time never raises the alert, which is why night passes should always carry one.
How Do I See Who Came in After-Hours When I Check the Morning Register?
Open the visitor register or the visit report for the night's date range: each visit shows the person, their host, the time in and, once they left, the time out. The On Site list shows who is still inside right now. Who approved a visit, and every change to it, is in the activity log, which a Company Admin can filter by person. There is no separate morning register; it is the same record the night guard used.
What If I Need to Change Shift Hours Quickly Because of an Urgent Production Order?
Because VizPass has no shift windows, there is nothing to reconfigure. Book the extra night visits with an end time that covers the new hours, and the gate admits them until that time. If host approval for walk-ins is switched on, hosts approve as usual. The activity log keeps who booked and who approved each visit, so the extra night stays traceable.
Is After-Hours Entry Control Compliant with Indian Data Protection and Factory Safety Rules?
VizPass keeps the record: every entry and exit with its host, time and, where captured, photo and ID, plus an activity log of every change and export.
